„Born in 1946 in Krefeld, Gerd Rohling numbers among the great mavericks in the art of our era. After his studies at the Hochschule der Künste in Berlin, which he completed in 1977 under the supervision of K.H. Hödicke, Rohling first gained attention at the end of the 1970s as a member of the group of artists known as 1/61, which he founded in 1979 together with Frank Dornseif, Ter Hell, Rainer Mang, Elke Lixfeld and Reinhard Pods. Since that time, Gerd Rohling has repeatedly offered surprises with numerous artistic projects on which he has often continued to work over several decades.“
